SeanairTown is a community art project in and around Oban, about language, family, place, culture and identity.

Why SeanairTown?

Many people in Oban, and throughout the Gàidhealtachd, use the Gaelic word seanair, meaning grandfather, instead of any English equivalents. Why have we held on to this word, when so much of the language has gone? What does it say about our identity?

This project brings together a group of people from in and around Oban to talk about what seanair means to us, to see where our conversations take us, and to share what we find with our community.
